Green Bay is a city (with the status " City ") and the administrative seat of Brown County in the US -amerikanischen State Wisconsin . In 2016, Green Bay had 105,139 residents. It is the core city of the metropolitan area Green Bay Metropolitan Statistical Area and seat of the Roman Catholic diocese Green Bay .

Green Bay is located at the head of the eponymous bay of Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Fox River . The urban area extends over an area of 144.94 km², which is spread over 117.77 km² of land and 27.17 km² of water.
Neighboring places of Green Bay are Benderville (20 km northeast), New Franconia (on the eastern city limits), Bellevue and Allouez (on the southeastern city limits), Ashwaubenon (on the southern city limits), Hobart (on the southwestern city limits), Pittsfield ( 21 km west-northwest), Howard (on the north-western city limits) and Suamico (16 km north).

Green Bay has a port on Lake Michigan, which is also accessible for large ships (so-called Great Lakes ships and Seawaymax ships). The Fox River has also been expanded for inland shipping.
The Interstate 43 reaches its northern end in Green Bay. The US Highway 41 leads as a western bypass around the city center of Green Bay. The US Highway 141 runs through the center of the city. The Wisconsin State Highways 29 , 32 , 54 , 57 and 172 also meet in the urban area of Green Bay . All other roads are subordinate country roads, some unpaved roads and inner-city connecting roads.
Green Bay is a railway junction of today to the Canadian National Railway belonging Wisconsin Central .
On the western outskirts of the city is the Austin Straubel International Airport, Wisconsin's fourth largest airport in terms of passenger volume. Sports
The city became known nationally and internationally for its football team, the Green Bay Packers . This makes Green Bay the smallest American city to give its name to an NFL team. The Packers' stadium is Lambeau Field, named after the first head coach Curly Lambeau .
