Whitehurst attended high school in Johns Creek , Georgia. He later attended Clemson University .

NFL

San Diego Chargers

Whitehurst was drafted in the third round of the 2006 NFL draft in 81st place by the San Diego Chargers . Between 2006 and 2009, he played two NFL games for the Chargers.

Seattle Seahawks

For the 2010 season , Whitehurst was traded to the Seattle Seahawks . He completed nine games with the Seahawks, four of them as a starter.

Second stay with the Chargers

On March 16, 2012, Whitehurst signed the second time a contract with the San Diego Chargers.
