Charles E. Sample (born January 5, 1920 in Green Bay , Wisconsin , † May 15, 2001 in Appleton , Wisconsin) was an American American football player. He played college football at the University of Toledo and in 1942 and 1945 as a fullback for the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League (NFL). He became the first player to score at least one touchdown per game in the first five games of his NFL career. Before he played in the NFL, he spent the 1941 season with the minor league team Long Island Indians .
