Kevin MacLeod

Kevin MacLeod (born September 28, 1972 in Green Bay , Wisconsin ) is an American composer and music producer who achieved international fame through the publication of freely licensed production music on his website incompetech.com .

Career

Since 1996, MacLeod has published over 2,000 tracks under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 (CC-BY 3.0) license , which, if the name is given, enables any free reuse - even in commercial productions. His music has reportedly been used in millions of YouTube videos, thousands of films, and multiple video games .

MacLeod also initiated the freepd.com website for public domain music (CC0). There new music with the same license is listed and offered for download.

Kevin MacLeod officially launched a new platform for the distribution of his music together with Sascha at the end of March 2019.

reception

In 2015 MacLeod was awarded the "International Honorary Prize" of the German Web Video Prize. A documentary entitled Royalty Free: The Music of Kevin MacLeod is slated for release in 2018.
