The National Railroad Museum in Ashwaubenon , a suburb of Green Bay in Wisconsin , USA , was one of the first museums devoted to the history of railways . It was founded in 1956 by enthusiasts from Green Bay. The Railway Museum is now one of the largest collections of historic railway material in the United States.
The museum has a large number of historic railroad cars and locomotives , including:
- The "Dwight D. Eisenhower", one of the remaining six British LNER class A4 and LNER express train locomotives
- the associated train , which the Allied High Command used in Great Britain as a rolling command post during World War II.
- A Big Boy , the largest and most powerful steam locomotive series of the Union Pacific Railroad and one of the largest and most powerful in the world.
- A GG1 for the Pennsylvania Railroad , which was considered one of the fastest and most beautiful electric locomotives when it was built.
- An aerotrain from the General Motors Electro-Motive Division .
