The Green Bay (English for 'Green Bay'; is also called the Bay of Green Bay to distinguish it from the city name) is a bay in Lake Michigan .

It lies along the south coast of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and on the east coast of Wisconsin . The bay is separated from the main lake of Lake Michigan by the Door Peninsula in Wisconsin, the Garden Peninsula in Michigan and an island chain between the two peninsulas - all part of the Niagara stratification . Green Bay is 193 km long and 16 to 32 km wide. The water area covers 4210 km². The bay is also navigable for large ships.

At the southern end of the bay is the town of Green Bay . There the Fox River flows into Lake Michigan. Other tributaries of Green Bay are Menominee River , Peshtigo River , Escanaba River , Ford River , Whitefish River , Sturgeon River , Bark River and the Oconto River .

The bay is bordered by the following counties: Brown , Door , Kewaunee , Marinette , Oconto (all Wisconsin) and Delta and Menominee (both Michigan).
