geography
The county is located in northeast Wisconsin and borders Green Bay on Lake Michigan to the east . It has an area of 2976 square kilometers, of which 391 square kilometers are water surface. Large parts of the county are covered with deciduous forests. The predominant tree species is the maple . The county is traversed by the eponymous Oconto River . climate
The weather in summer is often warm and sunny, but there can also be very strong thunderstorms . In the fall can be the so-called "Indian Summer" (= " Indian summer admire"). As of the 2010 census , Oconto County had 37,660 people in 16,033 households. The population density was 14.6 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.33 people lived in the 16,033 households.
The racial the population was composed of 96.9 percent white, 0.3 percent African American, 1.3 percent Native American, 0.4 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.0 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.7 percent of the population.
20.8 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 61.2 percent were between 18 and 64 and 18.0 percent were 65 years or older. 49.0 percent of the population were female.

Autumn is the so-called "hunting season". As in all parts of Wisconsin, this is practiced even by the youngest. Oconto has a lot of hunting due to the many forests in the county.
