The Lafayette County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Wisconsin . In 2010 , the county had 16,836 residents and a population density of 10.3 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Darlington , named after Joshua Darling , the former landowner.

history
Lafayette County was formed from parts of Iowa County in 1846. It was named after Marie-Joseph Motier, Marquis de La Fayette , a French general and politician. He took part in the American Revolutionary War on the colonist side and played an important role in the French Revolution .
