The Juneau County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Wisconsin . In 2010 , the county had 26,664 residents and a population density of 13.4 people per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( the county seat ) is Mauston , which according to M. M. Maughs was named, the first mill owner here.
geography
The county is just south of the geographic center of Wisconsin. It has an area of 2083 square kilometers, of which 95 square kilometers are water.
It is bounded on the east by the Wisconsin River , a left tributary of the Mississippi . The Lemonweir River flows through the center of the county to its confluence with the Wisconsin River.

history
Juneau County was formed on October 13, 1856 from parts of Adams County. It was named after Solomon Juneau, an early merchant in the area and later the first mayor of Milwaukee .

According to the 2010 census , Juneau County had 26,664 people in 10,787 households. The population density was 13.4 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.39 people lived in each of the 10,787 households.
The racial the population was composed of 94.6 percent white, 2.2 percent African American, 1.6 percent Native American, 0.5 percent Asian, 0.1 percent Polynesian and other ethnic groups; 1.0 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 2.8 percent of the population was Hispanic or Latino of any race.
20.8 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 61.0 percent were between 18 and 64 and 18.2 percent were 65 years or older. 47.3 percent of the population was female.
