The Ozaukee County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Wisconsin . In 2010 , the county had 86,395 residents and a population density of 143.8 people per square kilometer. By 2013 the population increased to 87,054. The county seat is Port Washington .
Ozaukee County is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area .
geography
The county is located in southeastern Wisconsin on the west bank of Lake Michigan . It has an area of 2891 square kilometers, of which 2290 square kilometers are water. In the hinterland of Lake Michigan, the county is traversed by the Milwaukee River, which flows into the lake in the city of Milwaukee, south of Ozaukee County .

history
Ozaukee County was formed in 1853 from parts of Milwaukee County. It was named after the self-designation of the Sauk Indian tribe .

In Grafton is the historic Grafton Flour Mill . The 19th-century flour mill , located on 14th Avenue , was listed on June 30, 1983 as a Historic Monument by the National Register of Historic Places with the number 83003409.

As of the 2010 census , Ozaukee County had 86,395 people in 34,093 households. The population density was 143.8 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.5 people lived in each of the 34,093 households.
The racial the population was composed of 95.0 percent white, 1.5 percent African American, 0.3 percent Native American, 2.0 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.1 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 2.6 percent of the population regardless of ethnicity.
22.2 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 61.0 percent were between 18 and 64 and 16.8 percent were 65 years or older. 50.9 percent of the population were female.
