The county is located in southeast central Wisconsin. It has an area of ​​985 square kilometers, of which 68 square kilometers are water. In the center of the county is the eponymous Green Lake . In the northwest, the county is traversed by the Fox River , a tributary of Lake Michigan .

history

Green Lake County was formed from the Marquette District in 1858. It was named, like the district capital, after Green Lake, Wisconsin's deepest lake at 78 m.
