The county is located in north-central Wisconsin and has an area of 3,311 square kilometers, of which 67 square kilometers are water.
The Flambeau River flows through the north-west of the county and forms part of the Mississippi River basin over the Chippewa River .
With the 595 meter high Timms Hill is the highest point in Wisconsin in the southeast of Price County.

history
Price County was formed in 1879 from parts of Chippewa County and Lincoln County. It was named after William T. Price (1824-1886), a former President of the Wisconsin Senate .
