geography
The county is located to the west of Wisconsin, borders Minnesota to the south , separated by the Mississippi River , which forms the natural border. It has an area of 1922 square kilometers, of which 20 square kilometers are water.
Perrot State Park is in Trempealeau County . There the Trempealeau River , which previously passed the Trempealeau Mountain on its course through the county , flows into the Mississippi.

Trempealeau County was formed in 1854 from parts of Crawford County and La Crosse County. It was named after that of the Trempealeau Mountain, which got its name from French explorers.
