The county is located in southwest Wisconsin. It borders Illinois in the south, the Mississippi forms the border with Iowa in the west , while the northern border is formed by the Wisconsin River to its confluence with the Mississippi. Grant County covers an area of ​​3,065 square kilometers, of which 92 square kilometers are water. The neighboring counties are:

history

Grant County was formed in 1836 as the original county from parts of the Wisconsin Territory. It was named after the Grant River , which flows through the county, or after one of the first traders named Grant , who traded with the Indians here.
