Boscobel located in the southwest Wisconsin, the south shore of Wisconsin River , 45 km west-southwest in which the border of Iowa forming Mississippi opens. The Illinois border is 50 miles south of the city.
Neighboring towns are Blue River (13.6 km northeast), Fennimore (18.1 km south-southeast), Woodman (10.2 km southwest) and Steuben (16.2 km northwest).
The closest major cities are La Crosse (110 km northwest), Wisconsin's capital Madison (119 km east), Rockford , Illinois (201 km southeast) and Dubuque , Iowa (83.5 km south).

The US Highway 61 and the Wisconsin State Highway 133 and County Highway M and S pass through Boscobel. All other roads are subordinate country roads, some unpaved roads and inner-city connecting roads.
A railroad line of the Wisconsin and Southern Railroad runs along the Wisconsin River for freight traffic , which runs from the Mississippi to Madison and from there to Milwaukee .
