The Wisconsin and Southern Railroad ( WSOR for short ) is a regional railroad company founded in 1980 for freight traffic in the area of Wisconsin with headquarters in Milwaukee , WI, USA. It has (2007) a route network of 700 miles (100 of which as route rights), has more than 200 employees, around 30 locomotives and in 2001 transported 50,000 wagon loads of goods.

The WSOR's main hub is Madison, Wisconsin , with several routes to Fox Lake (and on to Chicago ), Prairie du Chien , Reedsburg, Watertown, Monroe and Grand Ave., all in Wisconsin. A second route runs from Milwaukee to Oshkosh, Wisconsin .

The current color scheme of the locomotives is a red basic color with a wide longitudinal stripe and the lettering of the longitudinal stripe (in red) with "Wisconsin & Southern". The locomotive nozzles have alternating red / white diagonal stripes.

On January 1st, 2012 the WSOR was sold by the state of Wisconsin to the Watco Companies .
