Lancaster is located in southwestern Wisconsin at 42 ° 50'55 "north latitude and 90 ° 42'38" west longitude. The city extends over an area of 7.3 km 2 , which only includes land.

history
Mayor GM Price , a land speculator, laid out the town in 1837. A relative from Lancaster , Pennsylvania persuaded him to name the place Lancaster. One of the first African-American communities in Wisconsin arose on Pleasant Ridge . It was founded in 1849 by a shepherd family. Lancaster was long the residence of Nelson Dewey , the first governor of Wisconsin.
Since 2010 there has been an official city partnership with the German village of Heiden .

According to the 2010 census , Lancaster had 3,868 people in 1,659 households. The population density was 529.9 people per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.27 people lived in each of the 1659 households.
