The county is located in northeast Wisconsin and borders Michigan to the north . It has an area of ​​1288 square kilometers, of which 24 square kilometers are water.

history

Florence County was formed in 1882 from parts of Marinette County and Oconto County. It was named, like the district capital, after Florence Terry Hulst , the first white woman to settle in the area.
