The Florence County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Wisconsin . In 2010 , the county had 4,423 residents and a population density of 3.5 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Florence .
geography
The county is located in northeast Wisconsin and borders Michigan to the north . It has an area of 1288 square kilometers, of which 24 square kilometers are water.
On the northeast border of Michigan, the uniting Michigamme River and the Brule River to the Menominee River , the further south in the Lake Michigan opens.

history
Florence County was formed in 1882 from parts of Marinette County and Oconto County. It was named, like the district capital, after Florence Terry Hulst , the first white woman to settle in the area.

According to the 2010 census , Florence County had 4,423 people in 1,872 households. The population density was 3.5 people per square kilometer. Statistically, there were 2.36 people in each of the 1,872 households.
The racial the population was composed of 97.1 percent white, 0.4 percent African American, 0.6 percent Native American, 0.3 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.5 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.2 percent of the population.
16.3 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 60.0 percent were between 18 and 64 and 23.7 percent were 65 years or older. 48.7 percent of the population was female.
