The county is located in the extreme south of Wisconsin, borders Illinois and has an area of ​​1,514 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers are water.

history

N. Greene

Green County was formed in 1836 as the original county from parts of the Wisconsin Territory. It was named after Nathanael Greene (1742–1786), a general in the American War of Independence .
