The Sugar River is a left tributary of the Pecatonica River in the US states of Wisconsin and Illinois .
The Sugar River flows through central south Wisconsin in a south-southeast direction. It passes the towns of Belleville , Albany and Brodhead , crosses the border with Illinois and shortly afterwards flows into the Pecatonica River, shortly before its confluence with the Rock River in Rockton . The Sugar River has a length of 146 km. Its catchment area covers 1971 km². Major tributaries of the Sugar River are West Branch Sugar River and Little Sugar River .
