The Marquette County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Wisconsin . In 2010 , the county had 15,404 residents and a population density of 13.1 people per square kilometer. By 2013 the population had decreased to 15,176. The county seat is Montello .

The county is located a little southeast of the geographic center of Wisconsin and has an area of 1203 square kilometers, of which 23 square kilometers are water.
The county is traversed by the Fox River , a tributary of Lake Michigan .

history
Marquette County was formed from the Marquette District in 1836. It was named after Jacques Marquette , a French Jesuit and explorer.
