Grafton is a town ( Village ) in Ozaukee County in the southeast of the US -amerikanischen State of Wisconsin and part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area . The population was 10,312 at the 2000 census .

The record label Paramount Records was based in Grafton and produced records there between 1918 and 1935 .

In Grafton is the historic Grafton Flour Mill . The 19th-century flour mill , located on 14th Avenue , was listed on June 30, 1983 as a Historic Monument by the National Register of Historic Places with the number 83003409.

Demographics

According to the 2000 census , Grafton had 10,312 people. 28 of these people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 4,048 households and 2,878 families. The population density was 986 per square kilometer. 4,165 residential units were recorded in the village. Among the population were 97.72 percent white, 0.28 percent African American, 0.24 percent American Indian, 0.75 percent Asian, and 0.38 percent of other races; 0.63 percent said they belonged to several ethnic groups.

Of the 4,048 households, 34.5 percent had children under the age of 18; 24.2 percent were single households. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.06.

The population was distributed between 26.3 percent under 18 years of age, 7.0 percent from 18 to 24 years of age, 31.4 percent from 25 to 44 years of age, 23.5 percent from 45 to 64 years of age and 11.7 percent from 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years.

The median household income was $ 53,918 and the median family income was $ 65,825. The per capita income for Grafton was $ 25,948. 1.7 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
