The Interstate 85 (abbreviated I-85 ) is an interstate highway in the southeastern United States . It begins on Interstate 65 in Montgomery and ends on Interstate 95 in Petersburg .

Future prospects
There are plans to extend I-85 in a westerly direction to I-20 near Cuba in the state of Alabama. The course of the extended interstate should be based on the course of US Highway 80 .
