The Interstate 16 (abbreviated I-16 ) is an interstate highway in the United States caused by the US state of Georgia leads. It begins in Macon on Interstate 75 and ends after 160 miles in Savannah .

Interstate 16 branches in the north of Macon from Interstate 75 and strikes south of Macon Coliseum near the Ocmulgee National Monument , the US Highways 23 , 80 and 129 . It then runs in a south-easterly direction parallel to US 80. As the James L. Gillis Memorial Highway, it runs east from Dublin and is crossed there by US Highways 319 and 441 and north of Soperton by US 221 . In the north of the village of Oak Park it meets US Highway 1 and south of Register on US Highways 25 and 301 .

West of the city of Savannah is an interchange with Interstate 95 and at the city limits with Interstate 516 . From the I-516, the US Highway 17 uses the I-16 for a distance of about three kilometers. The interstate ends after 150 miles in downtown Savannah on Montgomery Street .

General

  • The interstate is also called the Jim L. Gillis Highway and sometimes the GA 404.
  • Only since 2000 have the numbers of the exits correspond to the associated miles.
