The Interstate 2 (abbreviated I-2 ) is part of the Interstate Highway System in the United States . It runs exclusively in the state of Texas through the valley of the Rio Grande between the cities of Harlingen and Palmview in the extreme south of the state.

This is the interstate highway with the lowest serial number, I-1 is not assigned. Like all even-numbered interstates, I-2 runs in an east-west direction. The entire route of the I-2 shares its route with US Highway 83 . In addition, the street runs parallel to Carretera Federal 2 , which runs across the Rio Grande parallel to the border on the Mexican side.

The designation I-2 was introduced on April 1, 2013; the road itself had previously been built according to the requirements of an interstate highway.
