The Interstate H-3 (short- H-3 ) is an interstate highway in the island of O'ahu in the state of Hawaii in the United States . The interstate is also known as the John A. Burns Freeway .

It begins near Hālawa at a cross with Interstates H-1 and H-201 . Then it leads on bridges through the Halawa Valley and crosses the Koolau Mountains with the 1.5 kilometer long Tetsuo Harano Tunnel . After the tunnel, the H-3 follows the Haiku Valley. After crossing State Routes 63 and 83 , the interstate ends at Marine Corps Base Hawaii .
