Kenneth Anthony Angell

Kenneth Anthony Angell (born August 3, 1930 in Providence , Rhode Island , † October 4, 2016 in Winooski , Vermont ) was an American clergyman and bishop of Burlington .

Life

Kenneth Anthony Angell was ordained a priest for the diocese of Providence on May 26, 1956 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on August 9, 1974 auxiliary bishop in Providence and titular bishop of Septimunicia . The Bishop of Providence, Louis Edward Gelineau , ordained him episcopal on October 7 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were John Francis Whealon , Archbishop of Hartford , and John Francis Hackett , Auxiliary Bishop of Hartford.

He was appointed Bishop of Burlington by Pope John Paul II on October 6, 1992, and was appointed to the office on November 9 of the same year. On November 9, 2005, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.

Angell's younger brother was television producer and writer David Angell ( Frasier ). He and his wife were killed on board American Airlines Flight 11 when the plane was steered into the north tower of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 .
