Ronald Paul Herzog (born April 22, 1942 in Akron , Ohio - † April 12, 2019 in Alexandria ) was an American clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Alexandria .

Life

Ronald Paul Herzog received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Natchez-Jackson on June 1, 1968 . On March 1, 1977 Ronald Paul Herzog was incardinated in the clergy of the newly founded Diocese of Biloxi .

On November 4, 2004, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Alexandria. The Archbishop of New Orleans , Alfred Clifton Hughes , donated him episcopal ordination on January 5, 2005 ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Biloxi, Thomas John Rodi , and the Bishop of Baton Rouge , Robert William Muench .

On February 2, 2017, Pope Francis accepted Duke's resignation shortly before reaching retirement age.

Ronald Paul Herzog was a member of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .

Herzog died a few days before his 77th birthday after a brief illness.
