Carroll County is a county in the state of Kentucky in the United States . The county seat is Carrollton .

The county is located in northern Kentucky, borders the state of Indiana , separated by the Ohio River and has an area of 356 square kilometers, of which 19 square kilometers are water. In Kentucky, it is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Gallatin County , Owen County , Henry County, and Trimble County .
history
Carroll County was formed on February 9, 1838 from parts of Gallatin County. It was named after Charles Carroll , a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

After the census of 2000, there 10,155 people in 3,940 households and 2,722 families lived. The population density was 30 inhabitants per km². The racial the population was composed of 95.16% White, 1.94% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.17% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, and 1.42% other ethnic groups. 1.04% were descended from two or more races. 3.25% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 3,940 households, 33.1 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 52.4 percent were married couples living together, 11.7 percent were single mothers, 30.9 percent were non-families, 25.3 percent were single households, and 10.1 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 2.98 people.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 25.3 percent of residents under the age of 18, 9.1 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 29.9 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, and 23.2 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 12.5 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 101.2 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over, there were statistically 99.0 men.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 35,925 , and the median income for a family is $ 44,037. Males had a median income of $ 33,588 versus $ 20,974 for females. The per capita income was $ 17,057. 10.4 percent of families and 14.9 percent of the population were below the poverty line. Of these, 19.8 percent were children or adolescents under 18 years of age and 21.6 percent were people over 65 years of age.
