Trimble County is a county in the state of Kentucky in the United States . The county seat is Bedford . The county is part of the dry counties , which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

The county is located in northern Kentucky, borders the state of Indiana to the north and northwest , separated by the Ohio River and has an area of ​​405 square kilometers, of which 19 square kilometers are water. It is bordered by counties in a clockwise direction: Carroll County , Henry County, and Oldham Counties .

history

Trimble County was formed on February 9, 1837 from parts of Gallatin County, Henry County, and Oldham County. It was named after Robert Trimble , a judge.

Demographic data

According to the 2000 census , Trimble County had 8,125 people in 3,137 households and 2,296 families. The population density was 21 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 97.90 percent white, 0.30 percent African American, 0.37 percent Native American, 0.07 percent Asian and 0.68 percent from other ethnic groups; 0.69 percent were descended from two or more races.
