Trigg County is a county in the state of Kentucky in the United States . The county seat is Cadiz . The county is part of the dry counties , which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

The county is located in southwest Kentucky, borders the state of Tennessee to the south and has an area of ​​1246 square kilometers, of which 98 square kilometers are water. In Kentucky, it is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Lyon County , Caldwell County , Christian County , Calloway County, and Marshall County .

history

Trigg County was formed on January 27, 1820 from parts of Caldwell County and Christian County. It was named after Colonel Stephen Trigg , a pioneer in the area.

Trigg County's population was 12,597 as of the 2000 census . 111 of them lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 5,215 households and 3,765 families. The population density was 11 people per square kilometer.
