The Anderson County is a county in the US state of Kentucky . The county seat is Lawrenceburg , named after William Lawrence , a local tavern owner.

The county is located slightly northeast of the geographic center of Kentucky and has an area of ​​529 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers are water. It borders on the following counties:

history

Anderson County was formed on January 16, 1827 from former parts of Franklin County, Mercer County and Washington County. It was named after Richard C. Anderson (1788-1826), a former member of the US House of Representatives (1817-1821).

On October 26, 1859 and January 13, 1915, the courthouse was almost completely destroyed. However, only insignificant documents were destroyed.
