Henry County is a county in the state of Kentucky in the United States . The county seat is New Castle .

The county is located in northern Kentucky, about 20 km to the north and west of the state of Indiana and has an area of 754 square kilometers, of which five square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Carroll County , Owen County , Franklin County , Shelby County , Oldham County, and Trimble County .
history
Henry County was formed on December 14, 1798 from parts of Shelby County. It was named after Patrick Henry , a patriot .
A total of eleven buildings and sites in the county are registered in the National Register of Historic Places (as of October 4, 2017).

As of the 2000 census , Henry County had 15,060 people in 5,844 households and 4,330 families. The population density was 20 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 93.97 percent white, 3.30 percent African American, 0.24 percent Native American, 0.35 percent Asian, 0.02 percent from the Pacific island area and 1.26 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.86 percent were descended from two or more races. 2.25 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
33.8 percent of the 5,844 households had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 58.7 percent were married couples living together, 10.4 percent were single mothers, 25.9 percent were non-families, 22.0 percent were single households, and 9.9 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 2.97 people.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 25.4 percent of residents under the age of 18, 7.9 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 29.7 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, and 24.7 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 12.3 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 99.3 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over there were statistically 95.9 men.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 37,263 , and the median income for a family is $ 45,009. Males had a median income of $ 31,478 versus $ 21,982 for females. The per capita income was $ 17,846. 10.4 percent of families and 13.7 percent of the population are below the poverty line. Of these, 15.5 percent were children or adolescents under 18 years of age and 19.9 percent were people over 65 years of age.
