Clark County is a county in the state of Kentucky in the United States . The county seat is Winchester , which was named after the city of the same name in Virginia .

The county is located in northeast Kentucky and has an area of 661 square kilometers, of which two square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Bourbon County , Montgomery County , Powell County , Madison County, and Fayette County .
history
Clark County was formed on December 6, 1792 from parts of Bourbon County and Fayette County. It was named after General George Rogers Clark .

Clark County had a population of 33,144 people as of the 2000 census . Of these, 423 people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 13,015 households and 9,553 families. The population density was 50 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 93.60 percent white, 4.77 percent African American, 0.17 percent Native American, 0.20 percent Asian, 0.01 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.53 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.71 percent were descended from two or more races. 1.19 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 13,015 households, 33.4 percent had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 57.9 percent were married couples living together, 12.1 percent were single mothers, 26.6 percent were non-families, 22.8 percent were single households and 9.4 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 2.95.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 24.8 percent of residents under the age of 18, 8.1 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 30.3 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, 24.3 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 12.4 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 93.6 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 89.8 men.
The median income for a household in the 39,946 USD , and the median income for a family was 45,647 USD. Males had a median income of $ 35,774 versus $ 24,298 for females. The per capita income was $ 19,170. 8.4 percent of families and 10.6 percent of the population were below the poverty line. Of these, 14.6 percent were children or adolescents under 18 years of age and 11.7 percent were people over 65 years of age.
