Winchester is a city in Clark County in the US state of Kentucky .
Clark County is located in Winchester. At the 2000 census, the city had 16,724 inhabitants. Winchester is in the heart of the bluegrass region and is about 25 kilometers east of Lexington .
The place is known for the beverage company "Ale-8-One", which distributes the famous Kentucky soft drink nationwide.
School system
George Rogers Clark High School is the only public high school . About 1600 students go to this school. There are also two middle schools and four elementary schools in Winchester.
