Logan County is a county in the state of Kentucky in the United States . The county seat is Russellville , which was named after General William Russell .

The county is located in southwest Kentucky, borders the state of Tennessee to the south and has an area of 1,443 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers are water. In Kentucky, it is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Muhlenberg County , Butler County , Warren County , Simpson County, and Todd County .
history
Logan County was formed on June 28, 1792 from parts of Lincoln County. It was named after General Benjamin Logan . In 1868 the Southern Deposit Bank was robbed by the gang of Jesse James .
Logan County is the birthplace of Jim Bowie , a Fort Alamo defense attorney in 1836.

Logan County's population was 26,573 as of the 2000 census . 315 people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 10,506 households and 7,574 families. The population density was 18 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 90.70% White, 7.62% African American, 0.21% Native American, 0.17% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, and 0.33% other races Groups; 0.96% were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.08% of the population.
Of the 10,506 households, 33.3% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 57.2% were married couples living together, 11.2% had a single mother, 27.9% were non-families, 25.0% were single households and 11.4% had someone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 2.96 people.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 25.7% residents under 18 years of age, 8.4% between 18 and 24 years of age, 28.5% between 25 and 44 years of age, and 23.6% between 45 and 64 years of age 13.8% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 93.1 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over there were statistically 90.4 men.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 32,474 , and the median income for a family is $ 39,307. Males had a median income of $ 29,750 versus $ 20,265 for females. The per capita income was $ 15,962. 10.8% of families and 15.5% of the population are below the poverty line.
