Pendleton County is a county in the state of Kentucky in the United States . The county seat is Falmouth .

The county is located in northern Kentucky, borders with its northeastern tip on the state of Ohio , separated by the Ohio River and has an area of ​​730 square kilometers, of which three square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Kenton County , Campbell County , Bracken County , Harrison County, and Grant County .

history

Pendleton County was formed on December 4, 1798 from parts of Bracken County and Campbell County. It was named after Edmund Pendleton , a judge and governor of Virginia .

According to the 2000 census , Pendleton County had 14,390 people in 5,170 households and 3,970 families. The population density was 20 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 98.39 percent white, 0.49 percent African American, 0.19 percent Native American, 0.11 percent Asian, 0.01 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.35 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.44 percent were descended from two or more races.
