The Campbell County is a county in the state of Kentucky of the United States . The county seat is Alexandria .
geography
The county is located in northeast Kentucky, borders the state of Ohio - separated by the Ohio River - and has an area of 413 square kilometers, of which 20 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise in Kentucky by Pendleton Counties and Kenton Counties .
history
Campbell County was formed on December 17, 1794 from parts of Harrison County, Mason County and Scott County. It was named after Colonel John Campbell , an officer in the Revolutionary War .
Historical sights
- The historic Tiemeyer House , which was included in the NRHP in 1983 and built by German hermits, is located in Melbourne .
- The Kort Grocery, established by Peter Kort in 1880, is also part of the German settlers in this area .
A total of 59 buildings and sites in the county are registered in the National Register of Historic Places (as of September 6, 2017).

According to the 2000 census , Campbell County had 88,616 people in 34,742 households and 23,103 families. The population density was 226 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 96.64 percent white, 1.57 percent African American, 0.17 percent Native American, 0.54 percent Asian, 0.01 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.31 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.76 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 0.86 percent of the population.
Of the 34,742 households, 32.5 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 50.3 percent were married couples living together, 12.3 percent were single mothers, 33.5 percent were non-families, 28.6 percent were single households and 9.9 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 3.09.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 25.6 percent of residents under the age of 18, 9.8 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 30.6 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, and 21.3 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 12.6 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 93.2 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over, there were 89.1 men statistically.
The median income for a household in the 41,903 USD , and the median income for a family was 51,481 USD. Males had a median income of $ 37,931 versus $ 27,646 for females. The per capita income was $ 20,637. 7.3 percent of families and 9.3 percent of the population were below the poverty line. Of these, 12.2 percent were children or adolescents under 18 years of age and 7.9 percent were people over 65 years of age.
