Meade County is a county in the US state of Kentucky . The administrative seat ( county seat ) is Brandenburg , which was named after Solomon Brandenburg , who made the land available for the city's foundation.

The county is located in northwest Kentucky, bordering the state of Indiana to the north , separated by the Ohio River, and has an area of ​​840 square kilometers, of which 41 square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Hardin County and Breckinridge Counties .

history

Meade County was formed on December 17, 1823 from parts of Breckinridge County and Hardin County. It was named after James Meade , who was killed at the Battle of River Raisin in 1813 .

According to the 2000 census , Meade County had 26,349 people. 108 of these people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 9,470 households and 7,396 families. The population density was 33 people per square kilometer.
