John George Bennett
John George Bennett (born January 20, 1891 in Dunnington , Indiana , USA ; † November 20, 1957 ) was the first bishop of Lafayette in Indiana .
Life
John George Bennett received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Fort Wayne on June 27, 1914 .
On November 11, 1944, Pope Pius XII appointed him . first bishop of Lafayette, Indiana. The Bishop of Fort Wayne, John Francis Noll , donated him episcopal ordination on January 10, 1945 ; Co - consecrators were the auxiliary bishop in the US military ordinariate , John Francis O'Hara CSC , and the bishop of Owensboro , Francis Ridgley Cotton .
