The county is located in east Indiana, borders Ohio, and has an area of ​​1,174 square kilometers, of which one square kilometer is water. In Indiana, it is bordered by counties in a clockwise direction: Jay County , Wayne County , Henry County, and Delaware Counties .

history

Randolph County was formed on January 10, 1818 from parts of Wayne County. It was named after Randolph County in North Carolina , where most of the early settlers came from.

According to the 2000 census , Randolph County had 27,401 people in 10,937 households and 7,798 families. The population density was 23 inhabitants per square kilometer.
