Kosciusko County is a county in the state of Indiana in the United States . The county seat is Warsaw .

The county is located in northern Indiana, about 50 km from Michigan and has an area of 1,436 square kilometers, of which 44 square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Elkhart County , Noble County , Whitley County , Wabash County , Fulton County, and Marshall County .
history
Kosciusko County was formed on February 7, 1835 from parts of Cass County and Elkhart County. It was named after the Polish general Tadeusz Kościuszko , a hero in the American War of Independence .

According to the 2000 census , Kosciusko County had 74,057 people in 27,283 households and 19,998 families. The population density was 53 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 94.58 percent white, 0.60 percent African American, 0.25 percent Native American, 0.55 percent Asian, 0.01 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 2.94 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.06 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 5.03 percent of the population.
Of the 27,283 households, 35.6 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them in the household. 60.9 percent were married couples living together, 8.3 percent were single mothers, and 26.7 percent were non-families. 21.9 percent were single households and 8.0 percent had people aged 65 or over. The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.11.
27.8 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 8.7 percent between 18 and 24, 29.0 percent between 25 and 44 years. 22.6 percent between 45 and 64 and 12.0 percent were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 99.7 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 97.3 men.
The median income for a household in the 43,939 USD , and the median income for a family 49,532 USD. Males had a median income of $ 36,209 versus $ 23,516 for females. The per capita income was $ 19,806. 4.4 percent of families and 6.4 percent of the population were below the poverty line.
