Noble County is a county in the state of Indiana in the United States . The county seat is Albion .

The county is located almost in the extreme northeast of Indiana, about 40 km to the north from Michigan , about 45 km to the east from Ohio , and has an area of ​​1,082 square kilometers, of which 17 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: LaGrange County , Steuben County , DeKalb County , Allen County , Whitley County , Kosciusko County, and Elkhart Counties .

history

Noble County was formed on February 7, 1835 from parts of Allen County, Elkhart County and LaGrange County. It was named after James Noble , the first US Senator from Indiana.

According to the 2000 census , Noble County had 46,275 people in 16,696 households and 12,288 families. The population density was 43 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 93.98 percent white, 0.41 percent African American, 0.25 percent Native American, 0.36 percent Asian, 0.02 percent from the Pacific island area and 4.04 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.94 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 7.13 percent of the population.
