O. H. Perry

Perry County was formed on September 7, 1814 from parts of Gibson County and Warrick County. It was named after Oliver Hazard Perry (1785–1819), a US naval officer in the War of 1812 .

According to the 2000 census , Perry County had 18,899 people in 7,270 households and 5,074 families. The population density was 19 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 97.61 percent white, 1.45 percent African American, 0.17 percent Native American, 0.12 percent Asian, 0.02 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.13 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.50 percent were descended from two or more races.
