Cass County is a county in the state of Indiana in the United States . The county seat is Logansport .

The county is located in north-central Indiana and has an area of ​​1075 square kilometers, of which five square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Fulton County , Miami County , Howard County , Carroll County , White County, and Pulaski County .

history

Cass County was formed on December 18, 1828 from parts of Carroll County. It was named after Lewis Cass , a US general, politician and secretary of state.

Cass County has a National Historic Landmark , the Spencer Park Dentzel Carousel . A total of 15 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of August 31, 2017).

As of the 2000 census , Cass County had 40,930 people in 15,715 households and 10,921 families. The population density was 38 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 93.70 percent white, 1.29 percent African American, 0.31 percent Native American, 0.54 percent Asian, 0.04 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 3.23 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.89 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 7.1 percent of the population.

The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 101 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 96.9 men.

The median income for a household in the 39,193 USD , and the median income for a family 46,506 USD. Males had a median income of $ 32,362 versus $ 22,017 for females. The per capita income was $ 18,892. 4.7 percent of families and 7.6 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
