Pulaski County is a county in the state of Indiana in the United States . The county seat is Winamac .

The county is located in central northwest Indiana and has an area of ​​1,126 square kilometers, of which two square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Starke County , Marshall County , Fulton County , Cass County , White County, and Jasper County .

history

Pulaski County was formed on February 7, 1835 from parts of Cass County and St. Joseph County. It was named after Kazimierz Pułaski , a former Polish soldier and politician who emigrated to America and became a hero in the American War of Independence . He died in the battle of Savannah .

According to the 2000 census , Pulaski County had 13,755 people in 5,170 households and 3,779 families. The population density was twelve inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 97.53 percent white, 0.92 percent African American, 0.22 percent Native American, 0.20 percent Asian, 0.02 percent from the Pacific island area and 0.35 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.76 percent were descended from two or more races.
