Hendricks County is a county in the state of Indiana in the United States . The county seat is Danville .

The county is slightly west of the geographic center of Indiana and west of Indianapolis; it has an area of 1059 square kilometers, one square kilometer of which is water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Boone County , Marion County (including Indianapolis ), Morgan County , Putnam County, and Montgomery County .
history
Hendricks County was formed on December 20, 1823 from parts of Putnam County and Free Territory. It was named after William Hendricks an American politician and governor of Indiana.

According to the 2000 census , Hendricks County had 104,093 people in 37,275 households and 29,074 families. The population density was 98 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 96.71 percent white, 1.12 percent African American, 0.25 percent Native American, 0.66 percent Asian, 0.03 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.36 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.87 percent were descended from two or more races. 1.12 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 37,275 households, 39.6 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them in the household. 67.1 percent were married couples living together, 7.7 percent were single mothers, and 22.0 percent were non-families. 18.3 percent were single households and 6.6 percent had people aged 65 or over. The average household size was 2.71 and the average family size was 3.08.
28.0 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 7.0 percent between 18 and 24, 32.3 percent between 25 and 44 years. 22.9 percent were between 45 and 64 and 9.7 percent were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 100.6 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 99.4 men.
The median income for a household in the 55,208 USD , and the median income for a family 61,689 USD. Males had a median income of $ 43,820 versus $ 29,340 for females. The per capita income was $ 23,129. 2.8 percent of families and 3.6 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
