Danville is a city in Hendricks County in the state of Indiana in the United States . The city is the administrative seat of Hendricks County.

According to the 2010 US census , the population of the city was 9,001, divided between 3,344 households and 2,398 families. 96.8% of the population are white, 1.8% Latinos , 0.8% African American , 0.4% Asians , 0.2% Indians , the remainder of the population belongs to other races .

Hendricks County Historical Museum

The Hendricks County Historical Museum is located in the former sheriff's office and jail at 170 South Washington Street. The building was built in 1886 and served as a district prison until 1974. The two-story structure is the only remaining example of the Second Empire architectural style in Hendricks County's National Register of Historic Places . This architectural style was popular in the period after the American Civil War , it uses a central column and a mansard roof as a defining element. The museum's collection includes exhibits from everyday life, agriculture, military history, education, and other items from the county's past. Also included are exhibits from the history of Indiana Central Normal College (later: Canterbury College ), which was located in Danville from 1878 to 1951.

The Danville Community Schools mascot is a warrior in Native American clothing. The school colors are purple and gray.
