Pershing County is a county in the state of Nevada in the United States . The county seat is Lovelock .
history
The county was named after General John J. Pershing when it was formed from Humboldt County as the last county in Nevada in 1919 .
One place in the county has the status of a National Historic Landmark , the Leonard Rockshelter archaeological site . Eight buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of February 14, 2018).

According to the 2000 census , the county had 6,693 people. There were 1,962 households and 1,383 families. The population density was less than 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 77.69% White, 5.35% African American, 3.42% Native American, 0.63% Asian, 0.22% Pacific Islander, and 9.38% other races Groups; 3.30% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 19.33% percent of the population.
Of the 1962 households, 38.40% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 57.20% were married couples living together, 7.30% were single mothers. 29.50% were not families. 24.30% are single households and 8.60% have someone living there who is 65 years of age or over. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.22.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 25.70% of residents under the age of 18, 8.50% between 18 and 24 years of age, 36.00% between 25 and 44 years of age, and 22.10% between 45 and 64 years of age 7.80% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 158.80 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 182.10 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 40,670 , and the median income for a family is $ 46,268. Males had a median income of $ 34,417 versus $ 24,301 for females. The per capita income was $ 16,589. 11.40% of the population and 10.20% of families are below the poverty line. 14.20% of these were under 18 years of age and 5.60% were 65 years of age or older.
