Douglas County is a county in the northwest of the state of Nevada in the United States . The administrative seat ( County Seat ) is Minden with the only major airport in the county, the Minden-Tahoe-Airport .

history

The first trading posts in the area of ​​today's county were established as early as the 1850s. The county was one of the first nine counties established in 1861 by the administration of what was then the Nevada Territory. It was named after Stephen Douglas , the Democratic presidential candidate for the 1860 presidential election, who fought hard words of words with future President Abraham Lincoln in this election campaign .

According to the 2000 census , the county had 41,259 people. There were 16,401 households and 32,813 families. The population density was 22 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 91.88% White, 0.31% African American, 1.68% Native American, 1.25% Asian, 0.15% Pacific Islander, and 2.54% other races Groups; 2.19% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 7.41% percent of the population.
